Start Your Engines: The NASCAR Season Begins This Week At Daytona

This weekend, we’re kicking off the 2017 NASCAR season with Daniel Suárez and Joe Gibbs Racing at NA_COMM_020317_Social Media Race Season_web_v1the legendary Daytona International Speedway. The action starts on Saturday with the Advanced Auto Parts Clash race, part of the new Monster Energy® NASCAR® Cup Series™ (formerly the Sprint Cup).

As you might recall, ARRIS provides Wi-Fi®to fans at Daytona International Speedway-the most comprehensive Wi-Fi deployment in NASCAR history. We also power the communications between drivers and their teams with our SURFboard® SB6183, E6000™ CER, and integration and support from our Global Services team.

This year, we’re sponsoring Daniel Suárez in the Monster Energy Cup. Daniel returns to the No. 19 ARRIS Toyota Camry as the face of ARRIS and the champion of last year’s XFINITY Series. His 2016 season was undoubtedly one of the most impressive of a rookie driver in NASCAR history. In just his second year of NASCAR racing, he won his first career XFINITY® Series race at Michigan, becoming the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR national series event.

He’d go on to win two more races and bring the #19 ARRIS car to 19 top-five finishes in his 33 starts—including a final win at Miami, cinching the series title and making Daniel the first Latin American driver to win a NASCAR national series championship.

This season, at only 25 years-old, Daniel takes to the track with a little more riding on top of his wheels—with an entry into the sport’s top series with this year’s new three-stage format for each race, promoting a new level of competition for the championship title. But, perhaps most importantly, Daniel represents the future of an aspiring generation of racecar drivers, and we’re proud to continue our partnership with him and Joe Gibbs Racing to continue making history.

Let’s wish Daniel and the #19 ARRIS team a great start to the 2017 NASCAR season!

Carl Edwards and Daniel Suárez are in Darlington, South Carolina for this season’s only stop originalat the legendary 1.33-mile egg-shaped oval. Dubbed ‘The Lady in Black,’ Darlington Raceway has been a destination for success for ARRIS Racing, with Daniel finishing third in his rookie debut last year, and Carl returning this week to defend his victory at last year’s Sprint Cup Series race.

Daniel starts things off on Saturday in the XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200. Carl will race on Sunday in the Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500. Both will be behind the wheel of the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry, but Carl’s car will wear a historic throwback paint scheme as an homage to former JGR teammate Tony Stewart. Check out this link for a 360 view of the car.

Here’s a preview of this weekend’s ARRIS Racing lineup:

NASCAR XFINITY Series – VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200

  • Daniel Suárez in the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry
  • Live TV coverage: Saturday, September 3rd at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on NBC, Sirius XM Channel 90, and MRN Radio

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – Bojangles’ 500

  • Carl Edwards in the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry
  • Live TV coverage: Sunday, September 4th at 6:00 p.m. Eastern on NBC, Sirius XM Channel 90, and MRN Radio

Carl Edwards: ”Darlington is one of the most fun races of the year. It’s a historic event and with the throwback paint schemes and everything, I’m really looking forward to this weekend. It’s going to be a blast. We won the race last year. It was one of the biggest wins of my career. Our Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas have been really fast. We’ve been working well together as a team. We’ve got a special paint scheme to honor Tony Stewart’s first paint scheme that he had at JGR. Here it is his last season so that’ll be cool. We’ve got ARRIS on board. The Stanzione family has done so much for our team through ARRIS. They’re from that area so hopefully we can get them another win. We’ll just go have a good time. We’ve got two races before the Chase to get a couple more bonus points and hopefully a couple trophies.”

Daniel Suárez: “Darlington is one of my favorite race tracks we visit each year and also one of the most fun and challenging to drive. The track is so different from any that we visit; it really makes it exciting for us as drivers as well as the fans. The whole weekend is really cool and I’m excited to be part of it. We had a really strong run there last year in our ARRIS Camry, so hopefully we can duplicate that effort this year. We’ve had a really good year so far, and as the regular season comes to a close I’m really looking forward to the Chase coming up in a few weeks.”

Bring home another one, Carl and Daniel!

Race preview: Dividing and conquering in the Great Lakes

This weekend, Carl Edwards returns to the Irish Hills of Michigan for the Pure Michigan 400, CqrqJCyWgAACYeIwhile Daniel Suárez heads to Elkhard Lake in Wisconsin to close out the Road Course portion of the XFINITY Series.

Daniel will run on Saturday, taking the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry through its paces on the legendary 4-mile, 14-turn circuit at Road America. The road course, which comprises both left and right turns, promises to offer an exciting start to the weekend.

On Sunday, Carl Edwards will take the wheel of his #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry—wearing its new SURFboard® wrap featuring NewEgg—for 200 laps of Michigan International’s 2-mile speedway. He’ll be looking for a victory to add to his nine top-5 finishes and two wins at the track.

Here’s a preview of this weekend’s ARRIS Racing lineup:

NASCAR XFINITY Series – Road America Road Course

  • Daniel Suárez in the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry
  • Live TV coverage: Saturday, August 27th at 3:00 p.m. Eastern on NBCSN, Sirius XM Channel 90, and MRN Radio

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – Pure Michigan 400

  • Carl Edwards in the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry
  • Live TV coverage: Sunday, August 28th at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on NBCSN, Sirius XM Channel 90, and MRN Radio

Carl Edwards: ”I am really looking forward to the Michigan race.  The lower down force package should provide some great racing there, especially the second time around, there’s a little more rubber on the track, and possibly some higher temperatures to widen out the groove.  We’ve been having a lot of fun. We’ve been fast, been qualifying well and racing well.  Michigan is a place that really tests every part of your team. You have to have great engines, which we do from TRD. You have to have great cars and bodies, which we do. The pit crew has to be on their game. My guys have been doing great lately. You have to make good calls the whole day.  Dave Rogers and I will go there and just keep doing what we’ve been doing and hopefully we get ARRIS a win.  I have a couple wins in the cup car and Xfinity series.  It’s always been a really cool place to go.  There is a lot of pride on the line in Michigan because it’s the domestic manufacturers’ backyard.  If you can win there, you know you’ve done a good job. I would be really proud to put Toyota in victory lane.”

Daniel Suárez: “We’ve had a tough couple of races the past two weeks, so I’m really looking forward to getting back on the track this weekend and behind the wheel of my ARRIS Camry. Road America is one of the best tracks not only in NASCAR, but in the country, so I’m really excited and looking forward to the weekend.  We’ve had some really good meetings this week and I think Scott and the team have a great game plan as we moved forward. We will work hard on Friday to find the right set up not only for the race on Saturday, but also qualifying on Friday evening as track position will be really important.”

Good luck, Carl and Daniel!
