Race Preview: Tackling the “Tricky Triangle”

We’re at Pocono Raceway this weekend in Pennsylvania for two days of spirited racing around 20160603_141817_resizedthe famously tight corners of the 2.5-mile tri-oval. Carl Edwards returns to add a third to his two prior wins at the track, while this visit will mark Daniel Suarez’s first start at Pocono.

Daniel will start things off in the #19 Toyota Camry in Saturday’s inaugural Pocono Green 250. ARRIS Racing will host some lucky employees that day during the XFINITY series. Then on Sunday, Carl will be rocking the new SURFboard paint scheme behind the wheel of the #19 Toyota Camry in the Sprint Cup’s Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400.

Here’s a preview of this weekend’s ARRIS Racing lineup:

NASCAR XFINITY Series – Pocono Green 250

  • Daniel Suarez in the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry
  • Live TV coverage: Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on FOX, Sirius XM Channel 90, and MRN Radio

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400

  • Carl Edwards in the #19 ARRIS Toyota Camry
  • Live TV coverage: Sunday, June 4th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on FOX Sports 1, Sirius XM Channel 90, and MRN Radio

Carl Edwards: “Pocono is obviously a unique racetrack.  It’s unlike any other track we go to.  It’s a real tough track to get right. I’ve had some success there with a couple wins.  I enjoy racing there.  It’s as close to a road course as an oval can get.  It has three distinct corners, has a long straightaways and every part of the team comes into play.  You got to have a great engine, you got to have a really good setup and you got to be able to adjust.  You have to drive well and restarts are important.  When you do well there it means something, because you have to do everything right.  Hopefully we can go there and get our third win of the season.  We have ARRIS on board and we would like to get them to victory lane.  After last week we had a strong run and I had some speeding penalties, so I need to keep the racing on the race track.”

Daniel Suarez: ”I’m looking forward to the weekend and making my first start at Pocono in the ARRIS Camry. I’ve done some work in the Toyota Simulator the last few weeks to learn as much as possible, and Scott (Graves) and I have had some good meetings and I think we have a good game plan going into the weekend. Toyota Racing has been on a hot streak as of late, and I would like nothing more than to get my first win and continue their winning streak this weekend at Pocono.”

ARRIS CCAP™ and DOCSIS 3.1® Leadership Continues to Pave the Way for Gigabit Services

At this year’s SCTE Cable Tec Expo, ARRIS will demonstrate how operators can use DOCSIS® 3.1 to prepare their networks for a new era of Gigabit services.

Our demos will present a complete ultra high-speed data and integrated video solution for today’s services and tomorrow’s migration to an all-IP network.

They center around our E6000® CER—the industry’s most widely deployed CCAP™ platform. We’ll show it running both DOCSIS 3.1 (D3.1) and DOCSIS 3.0 (D3.0) over multiple D3.1 cable modems (including our newly announced SURFboard® SB8200) and D3.0 gateways (including the ARRIS SURFboard SB6800) connected to a single Downstream Cable Access Module (DCAM).

We’ll demonstrate D3.0 and D3.1 running on eight gateway devices—representing eight homes, one per service group—to show:

  • The real-world speeds and services that operators can deliver with D3.1. The D3.1 modem uses a combination of D3.1 OFDM and D3.0 SC-QAMS bonded together to reach these speeds
  • CCAP video convergence to four of the homes with traditional QAM video delivery and data speeds of up to 1.8 Gbps through D3.1 modems and 1.0 Gbps through D3.0 gateways
  • IP-only households with IP multicast video streaming to IP set tops and 1.8Gbps of data traffic through D3.1 modems and 1.0 Gbps of FTP data traffic through D3.0 gateways

These demonstrations highlight the power, scalability, and flexibility of the E6000 CER platform. The E6000 CER provides simultaneous support for UDP, FTP, IP multicast video, and QAM video traffic, enabling operators to stay ahead of ever increasing network demands—from their own IP video services to OTT video services. All currently deployed E6000 CERs are software-upgradable to support D3.1 in the downstream, providing the investment protection operators need.

ARRIS also will support Intel, VeEX and ViaVi with their SCTE D3.1 demonstrations, which will be driven by our E6000 CER.

Join us in booth #551, as we preview the future of cable through D3.1

Wi-Fi: Connecting You to Everything You Love

Valentine’s Day is an annual reminder that Wi-Fi connects us to everything we love—whether ValentinesSocialMedia Bages_9Feb2015-02that’s entertainment, information, communication, automation, or someone special.

Planning a date for Valentine’s Day? These days, the way it works is: you sit down, look up movies and restaurants, buy tickets, make reservations, and tell your date where to go and when—all without ever picking up the phone. Thanks Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi is so entrenched in our daily lives that sometimes we take it for granted… until it doesn’t work. And with 71 percent of all mobile communications happening over Wi-Fi (according to the Wi-Fi Alliance®) on more and more devices, that’s more likely to happen. So this Valentine’s Day, start with good Wi-Fi to ensure that everything goes off without a hitch, whether that’s kicking back and watching TV or setting up something nice for that special someone.

What You Need to Know About ARRIS and Shellshock

keyboard_security-key_withLogo

October is Cybersecurity Awareness month in many countries. Security has always been a high priority at ARRIS because our technology reaches millions of consumers around the world. We recognize our responsibility to work with service providers to ensure that the future of entertainment and broadband is as safe as it is exciting.

This month, Shellshock is making headlines as a latent vulnerability in Linux and Unix servers that has resided in the Bash shell for more than 20 years. It is estimated to have a potential effect on half a billion web servers and connected devices.

We have been meticulously screening our entire portfolio to assess and minimize any potential risk in our own products and the environments in which they operate.

We are happy to report that our DOCSIS® cable modems and gateways are unaffected.

As we evaluate the remainder of our portfolio products, we’ll continue to work with the world’s foremost providers to protect the safety of the many consumers who use them.

Slow Wi-Fi? Buffering video? We Can Help!

Check with your local cable provider for a list of compatible modems and gateways.
