Mara Reyes wins 1st place at Super Copa Telcel in Monterrey!

It was a fantastic weekend for ARRIS racing in Mexico!

Mara Reyes came in first place in the Super Copa Telcel V8 Challenge! She has been tirelessly battling to get to the podium for ARRIS from the beginning of last season.  Not only is this a well-deserved victory, but it is also a historic achievement for a female driver in México.

Later in the day, Abraham Calderon came in first place in the ARRIS truck in only his second race in the Freightliner Series.

To top it off, a large number of ARRIS Monterrey employees and their families cheered our drivers on from the stands!

Here are the results…

LAPS: 25

ARRIS driver Mara Reyes got her first win of the season with an amazing performance at the wheel. Mara started in third place and she was able to manage a great battle with 14 drivers over the 25 laps.

Mara Reyes: “I’m very happy with the win. The car was really great. The boys did a great job and it helped me on the track. I had no problem to resist the great pace of the race. I felt myself very strong under the heavy heat in Monterrey.”

ARRIS driver Abraham Calderon finished in the fifth place on Sunday at the racetrack, Autodromo Monterrey. In very tough weather conditions, Monterrey’s driver did a great job by pushing from the beginning to the end.

Calderon also raced the ARRIS truck in the Tractocamiones Freightliner series and came in first place.

Abraham Calderon: “The goal was to get in the top-3. We had a great pace, but something happened on the chassis and we lost some places. We earned some points for the championship. We have to keep working. Thanks to Team ARRIS, they did a good job.”

The next round of Super Copa Telcel will be held in two weeks in San Luis Potosí.

Thrilling NASCAR Season Comes to an End

It was an incredible first season for ARRIS Racing! From the beginning at Daytona to the close LinkedinSocial_MediaNASCAR_SeasonEnd-09in Homestead (Miami), Carl Edwards and Daniel Suarez brought excitement to the track and put the ARRIS name front and center with race fans.

At the Homestead finale this past weekend, Kyle Busch of the Joe Gibbs Racing team completed one of the most amazing comebacks in all of sports, recovering from injuries suffered on the eve of the Daytona 500 this past February to earn his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship.

Carl Edwards started in the seventh position and showed early speed as he drove his way into second by lap 20. Edwards remained in the top five through the halfway mark of the race before a caution that immediately followed a round of green flag pit stops. The ARRIS team would elect not to pit and Edwards would restart from the lead when many of the other leaders came down pit road for fresh tires. He fought to get back into the top ten the remainder of the evening before finishing 11th.  He would finish his first season with JGR with two wins and fifth in overall points.

For Daniel Suarez, hard work clearly paid off. A rookie year that began with disappointment at Daytona International Speedway concluded with jubilation at Homestead-Miami Speedway as the 23-year-old driver battled back from a pit road penalty to record his 18th top-10 finish of the season, capturing the Sunoco Rookie of the Year crown and a fifth-place finish in the championship standings in the process.

Daniel added another accolade to his resume Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway – the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award. Daniel is the first Mexican driver and second Drive for Diversity graduate to win this award in a NASCAR national series.

The 2016 NASCAR season will begin once again with the running of the Great American Race from Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, February 21.
